Ada Nada Barbaresco Riserva 'Cichin' 2019A formidable and quite royal wine from 55 year old south facing vines in the cru Cichin, it is harvested only when the grapes are tending towards super ripeness. After manual harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and crushed and the maceration extends 15 days. The wine is raised in large oak botte for an extended levage of 36 to as much as 50 months. This sturdy, somber wine is thick in body, deeply colored with tints of garnet and red; its woodsy nose

subtler than the “T” yet more intense and layered than the basic Vitovska

After time in bottle

the “élevage” is done primarily in small barrels

the vineyards for the Vino Nobile have a southwestern exposure but at a higher elevation than those for the neighboring Chianti Colli Senesi

it nonetheless displays spice-laden red fruits that are very Pernand

evocative of Rolle’s thick skins
